CMS Releases CY 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

Physical Therapy Now remains committed to staying ahead of the curve, and we want to inform our valued patients about significant developments in healthcare policy. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has recently released its proposed rule for the 2026 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. This annual proposal outlines projected changes to reimbursement rates and policies that directly impact the delivery of care.

One of the notable proposals within this rule includes an adjustment to the work relative value units (RVUs) for non-time-based codes. Specifically, the proposed rule suggests a -2.5% efficiency cut to these RVUs. This adjustment is part of CMS's ongoing efforts to refine payment methodologies and ensure that Medicare payments accurately reflect the resources involved in providing services.

While these proposed changes are under review and may evolve, Physical Therapy Now is actively monitoring them to ensure continuous, high-quality care for our Medicare beneficiaries. Our priority is always to provide the most effective and accessible physical therapy services possible, and we will adapt accordingly to these policy shifts and any final determinations made by CMS.
