The Knee: Examination, Ligament Injuries and Return to Activity
Knee anatomy and biomechanics, special tests, and progressive rehabilitation for ACL, MCL and meniscal injuries, with criteria-based return-to-activity decision making.
Continuing Education
Continuing education for physical therapists and occupational therapists, taught by Physical Therapy Now clinicians. Here are the orthopedic courses we're planning for the coming year.
This 3-hour continuing education course provides physical therapists and occupational therapists with a comprehensive, evidence-informed approach to shoulder evaluation and rehabilitation. Participants will review functional anatomy, biomechanics, common shoulder disorders, clinical examination, differential screening, therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and progressive rehabilitation strategies. Conditions addressed include rotator cuff tendinopathy and tears, adhesive capsulitis, shoulder impingement-related pain, glenohumeral instability, and postoperative rehabilitation considerations. Through clinical examples and case-based learning, participants will develop practical strategies for individualized treatment planning, patient education, functional recovery, and safe return to daily activities.
Knee anatomy and biomechanics, special tests, and progressive rehabilitation for ACL, MCL and meniscal injuries, with criteria-based return-to-activity decision making.
Post-operative protocols, precautions, gait training, and strength progression after total hip and total knee arthroplasty, from acute care through outpatient discharge.
Red-flag screening, treatment-based classification, directional preference, motor control exercise and patient education for acute and persistent low back pain.
Examination of the cervical and upper thoracic spine, cervicogenic headache, whiplash-associated disorders, manual therapy and exercise-based management.
Differential diagnosis of anterior and lateral hip pain, load management for gluteal tendinopathy, and conservative and post-operative care for FAI and labral tears.
Lateral ankle sprain management, chronic ankle instability, Achilles tendinopathy and plantar heel pain, with balance, strength and footwear considerations.
Lateral and medial elbow tendinopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, distal radius fractures and tendon injuries, including splinting and graded functional recovery.
Phased rehabilitation for common athletic injuries, plyometric and agility progression, and objective testing batteries that support safe return to sport.
Evidence for joint mobilization, soft tissue techniques and exercise dosing, and how to combine them into efficient, individualized orthopedic treatment plans.
